He is survived by his wife Sandra, daughter, Deborah (Wade), grandson, Derek, twin granddaughters, Allyson and Ashley Wiitala, two sisters, Jean Carlson and Eileen Crabtree, brother-in-law, Allen Roessel, sister-in-law, Joan Newsome (Max), and many nieces, nephews, and cousins. Throughout his life he touched many people with his kind, gentle soul. In his retirement, he spent the summers tending to his garden and apple orchard. He loved the Green Bay Packers, Milwaukee Bucks, Milwaukee Brewers, and Wisconsin Badger basketball/football. Mike was a great sports enthusiast and looked forward to watching his grandkids play sports as often as possible. He also loved his annual fishing trip to Canada which he did for 35 years. He enjoyed the outdoors and spent many years fishing the Minong area lakes/streams as well as being an avid hunter & trapper. Gary Glen Manderscheid, 86, passed away Thursday, August 18, 2022, in Duluth, MN. McKay, 88 of Superior, died Friday August 19, 2022, surrounded by his loved ones, at Essentia St. telegram from Queen Elizabeth II the day after the monarchs death. In addition to working on the Fire Department, Mike started his own logging company that he named Sandeb, Inc. lies in state in London, even though that wont start till Wednesday evening. Mike was inducted into the State of Wisconsin Firemen's Hall of Fame, receiving recognition for the bravery he displayed and the lives he saved while risking his own. He was later promoted to Driver, then to Captain until he retired after more than 31 years of service. Mike joined the Superior Fire Department in 1964 as a Pipeman. He married his true love Sandra Roessel on Octoand they recently celebrated 59 years of marriage. "Mike" grew up in Superior, WI, and also spent much of his time at his family's cabin on the Minong Flowage. He was born on Jin Superior, WI to William B. Johnson, William Michael, 79, of Minong, passed away peacefully on Decemsurrounded by his loving family.
